[For Felicity]
Sometimes Oliver tries.
He might not be the best partner, nor is he always the most emotionally available, but being with Felicity brings him a happiness that he has slowly come to accept that he deserves. She knows him, inside and out -- what she doesn't know, he is slowly letting her see -- and she not only still loves him, but can put up with him, or let him know when she won't.
So he tries.
The lilies had been easy. Those sit in a vase on the stand by the front door, the first thing she'll see when she gets back from work.
Cleaning up the apartment a bit took little time.
The cooking was a failure from the start.
He'd let the fire alarm go off for about a minute before unplugging it, and it had taken twenty minutes for the kitchen to stop smelling like smoke. At least he can't go wrong with dim sum and after picking it up, he knows enough to put it in casserole dishes to keep warm in the oven.
With everything about as good as he can manage it, Oliver decides to take a quick shower to rinse the smell of smoke off himself.

She sees the vase of lilies as she's setting her bag down and lets out a little squeal of delight, going over to give them a closer look. It sounds like Oliver's in the shower, but she doesn't want to wait to thank him, especially once she peeks into the kitchen and sees something warming in the oven. A relaxing evening at home sounds like the perfect way to unwind, and she's grinning as she heads down the hall to the bathroom.

He figures Felicity probably appreciates this more.
When he opens the bathroom door, he isn't surprised to find Felicity there in the hallway. Securing his towel around his waist, Oliver gives her a smile. "Hey. I was hoping to be done before you got back."

Oliver leans down to kiss Felicity again, and when he pulls away, he reaches up to wipe a few droplets of water off her face. "I'm going to get dressed. I grabbed some food too, if you're hungry."
He's sticking with that version of the story.

Flowers for no particular reason are pretty romantic, and Felicity is a bit tempted to suggest Oliver shouldn't bother getting dressed. But she's starving, and they've got the whole evening ahead of them. "Food would be great, I am so hungry I could eat a...something the size of a horse, because the thought of eating an actual horse is slightly horrifying." She glances toward the kitchen. "Is that what's in the oven? I can pull it out while you're getting dressed."
